Monday Sep.14th, 2020
  • TikTok chose Oracle as its American partner. They want to partner to become a “trusted technology provider”. (Oracle would house data from TikTok users on its own cloud servers to alleviate national security concerns)
  • Delta is losing 27 million per day and the government airline bailout funds will run out on Oct.1st. As a solution, it decided to use its SkyMiles program to raise $6.5 billion.
  • Pepsi promoted its new enhanced water beverage called Driftwell which alleges to help people sleep better.
  • Youtube launched a TikTok substitute called Shorts in India.
  • Google announced that its carbon footprint is zero now. It became carbon-neutral in 2007 and says it has now compensated for all of the carbon it has ever created.

  • Carnival lost $2.9 billion last quarter and it announced $1 billion stock sale since it’s running out of cash.
  • Apple’s product event happened yesterday, promoted new iPads and new watches. Also, it officially announced its “Apple One” services bundle.
  • WTO said the U.S. violated trade rules when it slapped tariffs on $200 billion in Chinese goods in 2018 and it exceeded the maximum rates allowed.
  • FedEx announced second quarter earnings and it has its best quarterly sales numbers because of the covid e-commerce boom.

  • Tech startup Snowflake jumped 112% in its IPO debut. It is the biggest software company IPO ever and it’s worth $70 billion now.
  • Facebook held its annual conference and promoted its new VR - Oculus Quest 2. It also plans to release its first pair of consumer “smart glasses” next year.
  • The Big Ten announced that it will paly football again starting late October.
  • Amazon plans to put 1,000 warehouses in suburban neighborhoods, aiming to compete with Walmart on same-day delivery.
Thursday Sep.17th, 2020
  • New Jersey officials agreed on a “millionaires tax” as part of the state’s next budget and People who live in New Jersey and make money over $1 million would be taxed at 10.75% up from 8.97%.
  • Treasury Department sent a new term sheet to ByteDance saying that U.S. investors including Oracle and Walmart will reportedly own at least 60% of TikTok’s U.S. operations.
  • Moderna unveiled its details for how it’s running its late-stage Covid-19 vaccine trial in order to satisfy researchers and general public to ease their hesitant and confusion.
  • Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund, a $2 billion initiative on invest in companies dealing with climate change. Its first five investments are announced.
  • Apple announced its first partnership with a country - Singapore. Singapore will pay residents to do health-realted activities tracked on Apple Watch.
